Annual Report 2006-2007

D: Work Priorities for 2007-2008

61. In March 2007, we agreed our Work Programme for 2007-08. This set out our priorities for the coming year; our main activities, how we were going to achieve them, and how we could demonstrate whether or not we are succeeding.

62. We have ensured that these are consistent with the 2007-09 Strategy that we finished at the same time. We have also ensured that the programme is realistic and appropriate to the resources that we hope to have available.

The priorities

63. For 2007-2008 our three strategic priorities are:

  • To provide timely, focused and credible advice to the Secretary of State for Transport on the public and private transport needs of all disabled people. Our advice will be representative of the broad views of disabled people in Great Britain on non-devolved issues.
  • To provide guidance and advice to public and private sector organisations that provide, plan for, manage and regulate transport facilities, information, infrastructure, networks and services on how best to meet the varying needs for public and private transport of all disabled people, taking account of gender, race, faith, sexuality, age and other relevant factors.
  • To work to ensure that the public and private sector organisations that provide, plan for and regulate transport facilities inform disabled people of the developments that they make in accessible transport.
