All modern Light Rapid Transit Systems (LRTS) such as light rail systems and trams are fully wheelchair accessible. Many operate on new tracks with purpose built stations, others are partially new but also use parts of redundant railway line and have refurbished stations. LRTs currently in operation are:

• Birmingham Midland Metro:
  between Birmingham Snow Hill Station and Wolverhampton St. Georges.

• Croydon Tramlink:
  between Wimbledon, Croydon, Beckenham and New Addington.

• London Docklands Light Railway:
  between the City of London and the East London area as far as Beckton and Stratford and South East London as far as Greenwich, Lewisham.

• Manchester Metrolink:
  between Bury, Manchester and Altrincham and Central Manchester and Eccles. The Metrolink serves both Manchester Piccadilly and Manchester Victoria Stations.

• Nottingham Express Transit:
  between Hucknall (close to the M1) and the City Centre, serving Nottingham Station.
