Going to work

Finding a job is never an easy task.

If you are looking for work the Disability Employment Adviser (DEA) at your local Jobcentre or JobcentrePlus will be able to give you advice. They will be able to give you information about schemes that are available to help find and keep a job.

New Deal for Disabled People

New Deal for Disabled People is a scheme designed to help disabled people get a job, whether you are looking for your first job, or if you are getting back into work, or continuing in work, when you have become disabled.

You can find out more information about New Deal for Disabled People at:
www.jobcentreplus.gov.uk/JCP/Customers/Helpfordisabledpeople/newdeal/index.html.

Access to Work

Access to Work is a Government scheme designed to help disabled people to overcome the problems the workplace might pose, including the provision of special furniture or equipment and may include the provision of some sort of personal assistance.

More information about Access to Work can be found on the Jobcentre Plus website at:
www.jobcentreplus.gov.uk/JCP/Customers/HelpForDisabledPeople/AccesstoWork/index.html.

The advisor will also be able to give you information about help with the cost of transport for travelling to interviews and to work or for getting to and from jobs outside the workplace which are covered by the schemes.
